In July 2020, Vacations to Golf travelled to beautiful Whistler, B.C. to not only play some fabulous golf but enjoy everything Whistler has to offer in the summer. Due to COVID restrictions at that time we were not able to do everything we wanted however, Whistler being the outdoor playground that it is you will see from our postwe were not too hard done by.
Just a 2 hour drive from Vancouver on Highway 99 or aptly named the Sea to Sky Highway you can be on the fairways for an afternoon round at one of the many beautiful golf courses that Whistler has to offer. On the way you will pass the the town of Squamish where you can book a ride on the beautiful Sea to Sky Gondola. More on this adventure later in this post.
For those not familiar with Whistler it is one of the most famous ski destinations in North America and the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Surrounded by the awe inspiring Pacific Coast Mountains it is not only an awesome winter playground it is also a fantastic summer playground for outdoor enthusiasts including for golfers.
Accommodations in Whistler are plentiful and will suit all budgets. For this trip we stayed at Legends Whistler Creekside, a five minute drive from Whistler Village. This resort is perfect for couples, families or groups. There are various sizes of suites available with kitchens, balconies, great amenities with lots of activities nearby within walking distance.
Now for the golf! The first course we played on this itinerary was the beautiful Nicolas North Golf Course and it does not disappoint. All levels of golfers will enjoy playing here and it is walkable. We had an early morning tee time which is one of the best times to play. The air is super fresh and you feel on top of the world surrounded by the beautiful snowcapped mountains and amazing blue skies. We couldn’t have asked for better weather.
